What is the difference?
Test or complete assessment?
Psychological test
A test gives a precise snapshot of specific abilities or traits — for example intelligence or attention — measured against the normal distribution of the population.
Sheds light on a well-defined question. A single test cannot in itself establish a diagnosis.
Complete assessment
An assessment is a combined evaluation of personality and cognitive functioning, in which several methods and tests are brought together into one thorough picture. Used, for example, in parental competency assessments (in Danish) and in school and work contexts.
Provides the basis for a diagnostic conclusion — and can form part of your doctor's or psychiatrist's further evaluation.
As a rule, we recommend a complete assessment — it gives the most precise picture and ensures that alternative, or additional, explanations are not overlooked.

The process
How it works
1
Clinical interview
We clarify the question and choose the right test or assessment together.
2
Testing and assessment
Carried out by specialised psychologists — typically spread over one to three appointments.
3
Feedback and report
A thorough review of the results, with a written report and concrete recommendations.
Diagnostics
From assessment to diagnosis
A complete assessment makes it possible to establish a diagnosis — a professional evaluation of whether individual characteristics deviate significantly from the norm, described according to the ICD criteria. At EGOLAB, diagnoses are made by qualified specialists.
A diagnosis can bring clarity at school and at work, and a better understanding of how you experience the world around you. We also offer parent counselling, helping the family translate the conclusions of the assessment into everyday life.
A note on medication
Medication is always a medical decision. A psychologist cannot prescribe medicine, and a diagnosis does not in itself entitle you to medication — but a thorough assessment can form part of your doctor's overall evaluation.
